Pack, Unpack, Repeat.

My little life update.

D

earest reader,

It was time to renew our lease and all Matthew and I knew is that we really didn’t want to stay here. Matthew was itching for something new and I just wanted more space and hardwood floors (I know, silly). We had been bouncing around ideas of moving for a while, but when we got to the middle of the summer, we both accepted that financially, there was just no way we were going to be able to afford larger than about a $200 increase in our rent payments. There was NOTHING in our price range when we looked outside of our current complex, everything was way beyond our means.

We prayed together about it a lot, and realized that there was nothing wrong with our one bedroom apartment. We had everything we needed! Our apartment was safe, comfortable, and allowed us to spend money on other things we needed/wanted. So we had basically come to the conclusion that we were NOT moving and that was okay! God was good and we were able to stay in our nice apartment for another year and maybe begin saving up for a bigger apartment in the meantime.

Then my husband said to me, “I don’t know why, but I just feel like I should ask one more time if there’s any two-bedrooms available here. The worst she says is no and we stay where we are.”

I figured it didn’t hurt, so he went for it. The response was not at all what we were expecting.

“As a matter of fact, there is a two bedroom that will be available by the time your guys’ lease is up! It would be $**** a month and all we would have to do is an internal transfer. You guys could be moved in by September 13th and turn in your keys for Unit 620 two weeks later on September 27th when your lease is up. Are you interested?”

WERE WE INTERESTED?!

Our current apartment was going up $50 a month (normal, not too bad) which meant that this new apartment, a RENOVATED two bedroom, was only going to be $100 more a month for us.

I’ve never said yes faster to anything, other than when Matthew proposed, in my life.

This new apartment was a Godsend. We had two full weeks to move, the new apartment had BRAND NEW FLOORING (not carpet!), and more space!

I may have been a little ambitious and told Matthew we didn’t need help moving since we were basically just crossing the parking lot. We immediately regretted that decision, but it’s okay, we powered through and GOT. IT. DONE.

Those two weeks, however, felt like a vicious and never ending cycle of pack, unpack, repeat.

For the first time since Prom night my junior year of high-school, I pulled an all-nighter and let me tell you -  my body did not respond the same way it did prom night my junior year of high-school. I was definitely down bad the next day especially since it was a Monday and I was working.

No complaints though, because our new apartment is absolutely amazing and we are so entirely grateful for it.

God made a way truly for us to get this two bedroom apartment when we felt there was no way. There wasn’t a single apartment that was as cheap as this one is. It just felt like a little surprise gift from God and was a huge remind of His faithfulness and great grand plan that he has for Matthew and I.

So until further notice, I will be in my sweats unpacking our apartment and soaking in the sweetness of starting somewhere new. Thank you Jesus for your blessings.

Yours truly,
